It's quite chilly in the mornings and evenings, so don't let the daily averages tempt you to bring light clothing. Nights are also quite cold, which is really noticeable in buildings that aren't properly insulated or have central heating.
If you're staying at Airbnb or a similar type of accommodation, it's a good idea to bring a pair of slippers. Houses and apartments rarely have carpets and the floors get very cold. You can also find them at local Chinese kiosks if you forgot to bring some.

October is the first month when the most notable rainy seasons begin. Although there are around 5 to 8 rainy days a month, these are usually scattered towards the end of the month. It is rare that it rains more than two days in a row.
On most rainy days, most of the showers move quickly through the area and the weather clears up a bit afterwards. It's certainly not as dry as September, but the chances of good weather are pretty good.

In general, you can expect almost no crowds and empty beaches during the day. It's the perfect time to travel and explore.
Local services are also cheaper as it is considered low season, so you can get a better deal on accommodation and car rental.
In October, the fixed sunbeds and umbrellas are usually wintered, so remember if you want to spend time on the beach: you need to bring your own chair or blanket.

Costa del Sol weather in October: what to pack?
October mornings and afternoons are fairly cool, although daytime temperatures can be mild.
As you pack for your trip, bring light fall clothing and a warm jacket or cardigan for evenings and mornings. An umbrella is also a good idea when the forecast calls for rain. It will most likely pass quickly, but it's better to be prepared.
It's very windy some days in October, especially at sea, so keep that in mind when packing. I also recommend bringing a pair of slippers if you live in a rental - the floors are very cold and most places have no carpets. (Side note: the locals here don't wear slippers and don't take their shoes off, which would also explain the lack of carpets at home)
